The Embassy of the Philippines and the ‘barangay’ leaders of the Filipino Community in Ankara held a preparatory meeting on 03 November 2015 to discuss the 2nd Parol Festival in Turkey which will be held on 13 December 2015.
Ambassador Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez and her team were joined by ‘barangay’ leaders namely, Cecile Eguia, Jean Zaimoglu, Linda Mag-ampo, Nalida Bonto, Melanie Galo, Cristeta Lima, Dolly Panganiban, Adrielle Espinosa and Wahid Guilab
During the meeting, Mr. Cristopher Baguya as project officer of the festival reminded the community on the objectives of the event, such as 1) to raise the profile of the country and the community in Turkey; 2) to foster unity and camaraderie of the community; 3) to support the livelihood and training programs of local communities in the parol industry and other creative industries in the country; 4) to encourage potential tourists to visit the country, among others.
Under this year’s theme “Ngayong Pasko, Nangniningning Tayo! (This Christmas, we will sparkle!). "Let's make this festival more exciting and more merrier," said Ms. Zaimoglu. Mr. Espinosa, the student coordinator also expressed his enthusiasm on the activities. The meeting ended with the commitment of everyone to make the 2nd Parol Festival in Turkey a successful one.
