Professor Clarita R. Carlos, a renowned political science professor of the University of the Philippines, ASEAN expert, and former President of the National Defense College of the Philippines, discussed the ASEAN 2020 Vision at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara on October 14, 2015.
The lecture which was attended by scholars of the university introduced the ASEAN 2020 Vision which is the enhanced regional cooperation of ten (10) Asian countries namely, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Prof. Carlos explicitly highlighted the importance of harmonizing regulations of the ten (10) countries in order for the ASEAN 2020 vision to be realized.
Prior to the lecture, Prof. Carlos had a tête-à-tête with Prof. Hϋseyin Bağci, Chairman of the International Relations Department of the University. Prof. Carlos was joined by Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez, and Minister and Consul General Robert Ferrer, Jr. Also present at the tête-à-tête was Ambassador Mustafa Pulat, newly-appointed Chairman of the International Decommissioning Body (IDB).
