The Philippine Embassy in Ankara hosted daylong online events celebrations for Filipinos in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to celebrate the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence Day on 12 June 2021.

A unified flag raising ceremony by officials and personnel of Team Philippines in Turkey kicked off the program in the morning and capped in the evening with the lighting of the Atakule Tower, an iconic landmark in Ankara, with the nation's colors of red, blue and white.

The program also featured the social media broadcast of  DFA’s flagship projects, “Lessons for a Changed World: The Legacy of the Indigenous People” and “Lapu Lapu, ang Datu ng Mactan,” and the Philippine National Anthem played by musicians from Azerbaijan in traditional instruments.

The activities may be viewed on the Embassy's official Facebook page @PHinTurkey, which have already reached a total of 45,000 FB users. END
