ANKARA, 24 April 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, participated in two activities in this year’s celebrations of the “National Sovereignty and Children’s Day” in Turkey, which is held every 23 April.
On 22 April 2022, Çankaya Beledyesi, the municipality where the Embassy is situated, organized “Countries in Kindergarten” to introduce to nursery and kindergarten students the different countries in the world. Each of the eleven (11) participating foreign diplomatic missions was partnered with a nursery or a kindergarten school located within the municipality. Ms. Gülsün Bor Güner, Deputy Mayor of Çankaya, and Mr. Levent Gök, a member of the Parliament, graced the event.
The Philippine Embassy showed a video of the “Lupang Hinirang”, the Philippine National Anthem, followed by an art activity wherein the students were assisted in drawing and coloring the Philippine flag. The students sang with actions the children’s song, “Kung Ikaw ay Masaya” or “Mutluysan ve bunu biliyorsan” in Turkish . The activity ended with a group photo of teachers and students holding and waving the Philippine flag, and distribution of Philippine ube ice cream, which was made by the Embassy staff using ube ingredients sourced from Philippines.

The next day, 24 April 2022, around seventy (70) children of diplomats in Ankara participated in the activity, “World Children at the Turkish Grand National Assembly”. Mr. Adriel Louis Argamosa, son of Defense Attaché Colonel Harry Argamosa, represented the Philippines. END
