Ankara, 23 August 2019 – Philippine Ambassador Raul S. Hernandez presented his credentials to His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey at the Presidential Complex in Beştepe, Ankara on 22 August 2019.
Ambassador Hernandez conveyed the warm felicitations of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the people of the Republic of the Philippines to President Erdoğan and the people of Turkey. He also thanked the President for extending hospitality to the more than 3,000 Filipinos living and working in Turkey.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral relations to mark the 70th anniversary of Philippines-Turkey diplomatic relations this year.
Ambassador Hernandez and President Erdoğan discussed several areas of cooperation in the fields of defense, economy and tourism, the peace process in Mindanao and ASEAN-Turkey relations.
This was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father and first President of the Republic of Turkey the following day.
Ambassador Hernandez is the 9th resident Ambassador of the Philippines to Turkey. END
