With the establishment of official diplomatic relations on 21 September 1992, the Philippines and Georgia recognize the importance of bilateral exchanges to further nurture and develop the friendly and cooperative relations.
In 2011, the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia agreed to establish political consultations to discuss various issues affecting the relations and identify new opportunities for engagement. For the inaugural meeting, the Philippines hosted the delegation from Georgia at the Deputy Foreign Minister’s level in Manila on 24-25 November 2011.
Exchanges between the Philippines and Georgia continue to further build on the cooperative arrangements to bolster the bilateral relations.
In 2007, the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), a Filipino company, acquired concession to develop and operate a container terminal and a handling facility in the Port of Batumi in Georgia.
People-to-people contacts are on the rise marked by the increasing number of Filipinos traveling to Georgia for leisure. Prior to the pandemic, close to 25,000 Filipinos, who are legally-based in the Gulf region, visited Georgia as tourists.

The Philippine Embassy in Ankara has jurisdiction on Georgia while the diplomatic mission of Georgia in Jakarta is accredited to Manila.
