31 January 2020 – H.E. Raul S. Hernandez, Ambassador of the Philippines to Turkey, met with Turkish Contractors Association (TCA) President Mr. Mithat Yenigün at the TCA headquarters in Ankara on 31 January 2020. Ambassador Hernandez and Mr. Yenigün discussed ways to forge stronger linkages between the Philippines and Turkey in construction, which is a priority sector identified for closer cooperation between the two countries under the ambit of the Philippines-Turkey Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation.
Ambassador Hernandez briefed Mr. Yenigün on the opportunities afforded by the Build Build Build Program through the construction road, railway, airport and port projects worth USD180 billion to link people and businesses together and support the Philippines’ growing economic needs and domestic demands. Ambassador Hernandez also invited Mr. Yenigün and TCA members to PHILCONSTRUCT Luzon 2020 from 2-4 April 2020 at the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark, Pampanga and to form part of the Turkish business delegation headed by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) traveling to the Philippines in March 2020 for the 2nd Philippines-Turkey Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation.
Turkey ranked second among the world’s largest contractors in 2019, embarking on 438 projects worth USD18 billion. The Turkish Contractors Association was founded in 1952 and represents the leading construction companies in Turkey. END
