18 April 2021 – Overseas Filipinos in Turkey participate in an online legal talk on Turkish laws by Atty. Vahdet Bıçak, which was organized with the joint efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Ankara and the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul as Team Philippines in Turkey.

In a first online event by Team Philippines in Turkey with the joint efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Ankara and the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul,  Filipinos from all over Turkey participated in a webinar on Turkish laws held on 18 April 2021. 

Atty. Vahdet Bıçak from the Bıçak Law Office, a leading law firm in Turkey,  discussed the fundamentals of Turkish immigration, labor, and criminal laws mainly relevant to foreigners’ concerns.  He also responded to the questions raised by the participants on various topics, such as resident and work permits, citizenship, employment, legal support, mediation.

Close to 4,000 Filipinos are estimated living and/or working in Turkey. The majority of Filipinos are based in the Turkish key cities and provinces of Istanbul and Ankara. Numbers are also reported in other areas in Turkey’s Central and Southeast Anatolia, Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions.

Succeeding programs and activities are further being planned by the Philippine Embassy in Ankara and the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul to benefit Filipinos in Turkey and to promote the overall interests of the Philippines in Turkey. END
