The Ambassador-designate addressing the Filipino community in Ankara
ANKARA, 08 August 2021 – Close to a hundred Filipinos in the Turkish capital of Ankara had a meet and greet event with the Philippine Ambassador-designate to Turkey Maria Elena P. Algabre, on 8 August 2021, at the Meryem Ana Catholic Church grounds in Ankara, the first physical gathering hosted by the Embassy for 2021.
Ambassador-designate Algabre reiterated the steadfast commitment of Team Philippines in Turkey to promote and protect the interests of all overseas Filipinos in Turkey, including the delivery of prompt and effective consular and assistance-to-nationals services. With the establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul, Team Philippines in Turkey will be able to reach and serve more Filipinos in the country.

During the event, the members of the Filipino community were given wallet-sized laminated cards containing the contact details of the Embassy, the Consulate General, and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Lebanon, which has oversight of Turkey.
The Ambassador-designate underscored the importance of the Embassy and the Filipino community members continuously working together as partners. She shared the Embassy's upcoming programs and activities for the year and encouraged collaboration and participation from the Filipinos. END
