TBILISI 08 September 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to Georgia, Maria Elena P. Algabre, met with high-level officials in Georgia during her official visit to the country on 02–07 September 2021 for her presentation of credentials to Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, and to discuss forging closer bilateral relations between the Philippines and Georgia, two nations which share strong Christian heritages.

The Ambassador met with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani; Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Culture for Sport and Youth Affairs Thea Tsulukiani; Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli; Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili; First Deputy Minister for Internal Affairs AleksandreDarakhvelidze; Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili; Deputy Head of National Tourism Administration Medea Janiashvili and Director General of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce David Aptsiauri.

In her meetings with the officials, Ambassador Algabre expressed her appreciation for her accreditation as the Philippine Ambassador to Georgia and reiterated the commitment of the Philippines to strengthen its cooperation with Georgia in the areas of trade, tourism, education, culture, sports, and other potential initiatives that would greatly benefit both countries.  She also conveyed her gratitude to the Georgian government for its warm hospitality accorded to the 20 Filipinos currently based in Georgia.
