ANKARA 03 November 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Elena P. Algabre met with the Governor of Ankara Vasip Şahin on 02 November 2021 to discuss forging closer cultural and economic cooperation between the Philippines and Turkey.
The Ambassador congratulated Governor Şahin on the 98th Anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, noting the important role played by Ankara as the seat of the national government. She expressed gratitude for the Turkey’s assistance to the Philippines for the latter’s efforts to ensure sustainable peace and development in Mindanao. She also thanked the Governor for hosting the almost 700 Filipinos in Ankara.

Ambassador Algabre and Governor Şahin agreed on the wide prospects for the growth in trade and tourism between the two countries. The Ambassador cited the Philippine Embassy’s ongoing engagement with relevant Turkish business organizations and its participation in trade and tourism fairs in Turkey.##
