IZMIR, 11 April 2022 - On the first day of the overseas election period, 10 April 2022, the Philippine Embassy in Ankara kick started the series of consular missions for the year in Izmir, located 589 kilometers from the Turkish capital along the Aegean coast and Turkey’s third most populous city after Istanbul and Ankara.

The Embassy team rendered various consular services, which include passport applications and renewals, processing of reports of birth and marriage, notarial services, and dual citizenship applications, while Embassy officials deputized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) conducted mobile voting for land- and sea based overseas voters in Izmir for the 2022 National Elections.

The consular outreach in Izmir is part of the Embassy’s mandate to bring efficient and timely consular services closer to Filipinos in Turkey outside Ankara, and are unable to travel to the Embassy. Services to Filipinos in Izmir are coordinated with the Philippine Consulate General in Izmir led by Mr. Ender Yorgancılar, Consul General, ad honorem since 2007.
Slated next in the coming weeks are missions in Baku, Azerbaijan (23–24 April); Adana, Hatay, and Antalya in Turkey (30 April, 01 May, and 07–08 May).##
