BAKU, 25 April 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara, led by Ambassador Maria Elena P. Algabre, met with Mr. Orkhan Vidadi oglu Mammadov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SMB), on 23 April 2022.
In her second official visit to Baku following her presentation of credentials in November 2021, Ambassador Algabre emphasized the importance of widening and strengthening the cooperation between the Philippines and Azerbaijan. Among the potential areas of cooperation is on assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in both countries.

The Ambassador and Mr. Mammadov discussed the similarities and differences of PH and AZ government programs, projects, and activities for MSMEs, including during the pandemic.
On the occasion of this year’s 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Azerbaijan, the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, with jurisdiction over Azerbaijan, had a series of meetings with Azerbaijani government officials during the Ambassador’s official visit in April 2022. Diplomatic relations between the two (2) countries were officially established on 27 March 1992.##
