ISTANBUL, 16 September 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara visited the headquarters of VAKKO in Üsküdar, Istanbul, on 16 September 2022. VAKKO is a prominent Turkish fashion company, and one of the largest producers and retailers of textiles, leather goods and accessories..

Ambassador Maria Elena P. Algabre met with VAKKO’s Head of Product Management Group, Ms. Merve Dinçer, and had discussions on Philippine-made products, particularly on home décor and women’s accessories, and their potential in the Türkish market.

VAKKO carries products from ZACARIAS 1925, a Philippine brand of hand-woven bags and home accessories. ZACARIAS 1925 has showcased its products at international trade fairs and fashion industry events including Maison et Objet Paris, Premiere Classe Paris, Pitti Firenze, Super Milan, Salone et Mobile, The Artling at ArtStage Singapore, and Watari Museum of Contemporary Art’s On Sundays (an independent basement bookstore and café).
