ANKARA, 29 September 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara launched an art exhibit to celebrate the Philippines' Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Mana Mo (Mana Mo), on 21 September 2022 , at the Embassy’s consular section lobby. Mana Mo is held every September of the year.
The exhibit features the seaside scenery artworks, entitled “Reflections of the sea from the painter’s heart”, of Turkish painter Süheyla Üstek, who was trained by an Ankara-based Filipino artist, Mr. Jonal Buenafe. A native of Nevsehir, Ms. Üstek studied at Anadolu University and the Ankara Maturation Institute, where she earned a Painting Education and Training Certificate. She now has her own art studio.

Ms. Üstek’s paintings were also exhibited for two days at CerModern as part of the Philippine Embassy’s participation in the World Cultures Festival in Ankara on 23–24 September 2022.
The art exhibit is now back at the Embassy and is open to the public from September to October 2022.

Presidential Proclamation No. 316 (2017) of the Philippines declares September as Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month. The Proclamation encourages all agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned-or--controlled corporations and local government units, as well as the private sector, to implement programs and activities that seek to raise awareness and consciousness on maritime and archipelagic issues and concerns.##
