6 October 2023, Gaziantep –Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Juan E. Dayang Jr. led the Philippine Embassy team in conducting a consular outreach mission and a welfare check on the Filipinos in Gaziantep on 6 October 2023. The team traveled more than 200 kilometers to Gaziantep from Adana to visit the Filipino Community in one of the provinces that was severely hit by the devastating earthquake in Türkiye on 6 February 2023. There are around forty (40) Filipinos including their children in Gaziantep. Post had sheltered twenty (20) Filipino earthquake victims from Gaziantep in Ankara. Some of them availed of the repatriation process to the Philippines.

Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Juan E. Dayang Jr. presented a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Lina Ozdemir, the Embassy’s Filipino community coordinator in Gaziantep, for her invaluable support and assistance to the Embassy’s emergency efforts during the massive earthquake in Türkiye last February.
