Ankara, 22 October  2023 – As part of its Gender and Development program, the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, in coordination with the SSS Foreign Representative in London, conducted on 21 October 2023 a hybrid Seminar on Financial Literacy for OFWs, entitled “Kabayan, Mag-impok para sa Kinabukasan”.

Webinar by the Philippine Embassy and the SSS Foreign Representative in London on Financial Literacy

CDA Juan E. Dayang, Jr. delivered a lecture on Financial Literacy with special emphasis on how to make better financial decisions, effective management of money and debt as well as reduction of expenses through better plannings.  SSS Foreıgn Representative, Ms. Lydia E. Cabagnot, on the other hand, outlined and explained the social insurance program of the Philippine government particularly for overseas Filipino workers, including social security benefits, loan privileges and worker’s investment and savings program. She also helped some participants in filling up SSS applications after her presentation.

Around 40 participants, 95% of them were women, attended the Seminar in person at the Embassy. It was livestreamed on the Embassy’s Facebook account to allow interested overseas Filipinos, who were not in Ankara, to participate/watch the seminar. The livestreaming on Facebook attracted more than 500 viewers around the world.END
