30 November 2023, Ankara, Türkiye – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara celebrated the 160th birth anniversary of Gat. Andres Bonifacio paid tribute to the Ama of Katipunan (Father of the Katipunan) in a program held at the Philippine Embassy on 30 November 2023.

Dr. Juan E. Dayang Jr., the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Minister, and Consul General led the officers and staff of the Embassy in commemorating Bonifacio Day. The event began with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the recitation of Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat (Pledge of Allegiance).

Minister Dayang's message highlighted the significant role of Bonifacio as a crucial figure in the Philippine Revolution. He emphasized that Bonifacio and his men fought for the nation rather than a specific class. The birth of Katipunan and the call of Andrés Bonifacio to his fellow countrymen to join the revolution is one of the most stirring moments in the history of the Philippines.

The event concluded with a performance of Aling Pag-ibig Pa (Which Love is Greater), a song inspired by Bonifacio's poem Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa (Love of Native Land), which expresses love for the nation. END
