ANKARA, 21 March 2024 — The Philippine Embassy in Ankara through its Sentro Rizal Ankara participated in the Sentro Rizal Virtual Masterclass on Philippine Choral Music, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) on 19 and 20 March 2024. The Virtual Masterclass was conducted via Zoom.

The two-day activity was conducted by the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers (The Madz) led by their choirmaster, Mr. Mark Carpio. It was jointly hosted by Sentro Rizal (SR) Ankara, SR Doha, SR Hanoi and SR Jeddah.

Philippine Ambassador to Türkiye Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. welcomed the participants of the virtual masterclass and thanked the NCCA and The Madz for this endeavor to learn and appreciate more the Philippine culture through choral music.

Nineteen participants represented Sentro Rizal Ankara during the virtual masterclass, with Embassy officers and staff, and members of the Meryem Ana Church Filipino Choir and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Choir honing their vocal prowess during the two-day event.

At least 40 Filipino and foreign music enthusiasts from participating countries joined the virtual masterclass on Philippine Choral Music. This the first of the series of masterclasses that NCCA is offering to the Philippine Embassies and Consulates General abroad. END.
